According to KIRO 7 reports, the suspect's name is Jeff Lytle and he's from Monroe, Washington. He allegedly crafted a plot to get his wife and daughter murdered over an insurance policy.
Lytle was supposed to deliver those text messages to a man named "Shayne", who the police assume is the hitman he hired to do the job. He was even willing to split the $1.5M policy if he did it right.
The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office released the messages and are as follows:
“Hey Shayne hows it going. You remember you said that you would help me kill my wife. I’m going to take you up on that offer.”
“– life insurance is worth 1 million and if you want a bounes (bonus) you can kill [JL]. Her life insurance is 500K.”
“—if you can make it look like a robbery gone wrong or make it an accident she works at Walmart she gets off at 11:00.”
“I’ll split everything with the insurance 50/50”
Well, things didn't go how this 42-year-old American had planned. He accidentally sent those texts by mistake to his former boss who found it disturbing and lead it to authorities.
The wife was identified as Rhoda Mee Funtanilla Lytle. Her Facebook profile shows that she's from Abra in the Philippines and that their daughter is 4 years old.
Lytle has been taken into police custody on Wednesday and is now being investigated for two counts of "criminal solicitation for murder in the first degree" and "domestic violence."
Although he already confessed to sending those messages, Lytle claimed that he did not really mean the act, saying that it was just a mechanism to "help him vent." In another defense, he claimed that it might be their daughter who was sending those messages and not him.
Prosecutors refused to accept his alibis and firmly believed that the messages were really sent by this man.
